The aim of the Future Work Ability project is to support and maintain work ability of unemployed people at the area of Nurmes and Juuka. Project offers expert lectures, online courses and peer support groups to umemployed people. Topics of the lectures, online courses and peer groups are work ability in respect of exercise, nutrition, weight management and mental health; teleworking and online studies and how to manage your own finances. Participants can act as a tutor for peer group. The aim of the project is to improve or maintain work abity of the target group, support their mental health and offer tools to telework and distance learning.
Työttömäksi jääneet henkilöt Nurmeksessa ja Juuassa, jotka ovat kiinnostuneet fyysisen ja psyykkisen terveydentilansa sekä työelämätaitojensa ylläpidosta ja oman taloutensa hallinnasta.
- Liikunta, valmennus ja muita hankkeen varsinaiselle kohderyhmälle tarvittavia palveluja myyvät yritykset ja yhdistykset, voivat tarjota palveluitaan hankkeelle.
- Työttömän parantuneesta elämäntilanteesta hyötyvät myös työttömien henkilöiden perheet ja läheiset.
- Nurmeksen kaupunki ja Juuan kunta hyötyvät kuntalaiseten parantuneeste työkyvystä ja terveydentilasta.

The Future Work Ability Project, implemented on May 1st to Dec 31st 2020, was managed by local unemployed support association Näre ry. The project was focusing on maintaining and improving the work ability and general wellbeing for the unemployed persons living in Nurmes and Juuka area. The 21 project participants were provided co-operational support for physical activities, nutrition and weight management as well as for the topics of digital skills and teleworking.
Besides topic of physical wellbeing, the project organized peer support on various activities, such as creativeness, crafts, sleep and stress management, and other themes that support mental health and general social inclusion. Support for personal economics management was also provided for the project participants. These activities are continuing in project managing association after the implementation of the project in 2021.
The activities were implemented as coaching, lectures or peer support with precaution due to Corona pandemic for groups or individuals. The implementation was meeting the challenge of social interaction and mental wellbeing problems due to outburst of Corona pandemic in 2020. The virus influence to economics and unemployment in implementation area was also an important theme for the project in relation to support digital tools learning and abilities for teleworking and also for everyday life purposes of people living in rural areas.
An essential indicator for evaluation of the project activities was Abilitator, an online tool provided by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health. The indication was that the situation among the project participators was improved. Thus, the general evaluation for project outcomes and for the project implementation was that the project has met the specific aims and general objective of social inclusion and prevention of poverty as the expected results for the project.
